Utilizing the 8mm films (previously believed lost) that Gabino Castro and the residents of 19 Horton Avenue shot during the 50s, 60s, and 70’s, this film presents glimpses of their lives through eight short music video “chapters.” More than just a time capsule of one families experiences, the film wields the time tested weapon of nostalgia to challenge the viewer into revisiting their own family life experiences. It also features a diverse soundtrack of music including SInatra, The Beach Boys, Wilco and four lads from Liverpool. With an offer like that, how can you refuse?

Conceived as an inside joke after skateboarding was banned in Philadelphia’s Love Park, Joe Castro’s first “fingerboarding” movie was a minor internet sensation after appearing on bellybone.com, both simultaneously outraging and amusing the “serious” fngerboarders who frequent the Tech Deck message boards. Filmed entirely during work hours with collaborator Nick Perfetto, this short film was a send up of classic skateboard films like “Public Domain” and “Shackle Me Not” that Castro spent hours of his youth watching in awe. Enjoy.
